AgraX was built by two people who spent years buying and moving produce, and spent every morning of those years digging the same numbers out of USDA PDFs. The reports are public and thorough, and almost unusable at the speed a buying desk actually works. So we started parsing them into something we would have wanted on the desk: every commodity, every variety, every origin, in one place, before the first call of the day.
The data comes from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service — Specialty Crops Terminal Market and Shipping Point reports, covering 12 terminal markets and the shipping-point districts that feed them. We parse each weekday morning and publish what the report says. We do not blend, smooth, or average prices across varieties, origins, or packs, because a price only means something attached to the item it was paid for. Where a figure is a midpoint of a reported range rather than a transaction-weighted price, we label it as such on the row.

The price data is free and stays free; we make money on Pro subscriptions and sponsorships from companies serving the produce trade. If a number looks wrong to you, tell us — corrections come first.
